Crops
SOBBA has over three years focused primarily on producing highly nutritious crop mix; rich in protien and carbohydrates. The main products planted are:
-
Rice is the cereal grain that is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population
-
Maize is used for both human, livestock and poultry feeding. The yellow maize vareity (consumed in almost all African countries and in the Americas) is a more nutritious cereal than rice. The starch obtained from maize is of high quality and the oil is cholesterol-free.
-
Cowpea is very rich in protein, fiber, and in most African nations is the second most important grain legume grown. It is incraesingly becoming a protein supplement to meat which is expensive in most developing countries.
-
Groundnuts is the a major source of fats/oil, potassiom, carbohydrates and proteins consumed by majority of African nations.
-
Cassava is a Gluten-free starchy tuber with nearly twice the calories than potatoes. It contains a moderate source of valuable Vitamin B-complex group; folates, thiamin, pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), riboflavin, and pantothenic acid.

offered the opportunity for farmers to gain knowledge in seed multiplication, improved farming technology training and services, seed marketing and promotion, crop protection and farming inputs and agronomic advisory services.
-
Fertilers, seeds and labour have been provided to contract farmers that SOBBA has working with in various communities.

Research and Consulting
A plethora of relevant agricultural research information is being generated all over Sierra Leone by different research groups. Furthermore, several of these groups continue carry our similar research activities with limited triangulation. Furthermore, most of these findings are kept in reports stack in shelves. This has affected adoption rates and hence agricultural productivity. SOBBA will collaborate with different groups to generate a hub to assemble these research findings and relevant information and make them available to farmers and other potential users. This task would be done alongside personnel from Njala agricultural Universty and the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research institute.
SOBBA will be providing these services to farmers,, companies and national bodies that need impirical data to make sound agricultural decisions and policies
